Synopsis
In a city submerged by water, amidst ruins steeped in deep silence, a girl carefully holds a Angel’s Egg. Though its nature remains unclear, it is a pure faith sustaining her life. One day, a boy carrying a giant gun appears, following a bird from her dreams. They silently share their hearts, but the boy breaks the egg. Angel's Egg quietly asks with restrained emotion and storytelling: What do we believe in? Where does that belief come from, and why does it break? It remains a profoundly intimate and fundamental question by Oshii Mamoru, newly remastered for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival classics section. (Eugene KIM)
